歷史與宗旨 History and Vision

國立陽明交通大學社會與文化研究所（以下簡稱社文所）於2002年成立碩士班，2003年成立博士班。社文所為跨領域的研究教學單位，設立宗旨在於跨越人文社會學科之傳統界線，以社會思想與批判理論以及強調跨學科的文化研究為基礎，培養學生既能深刻掌握不同學科的專業知識，又能夠面對跨領域問題意識的挑戰，從而發展兼具歷史縱深、比較視野與在地關懷的批判研究。

Institute of Social Research and Cultural Studies (SRCS), National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, established the MA program in 2002 and the Ph.D. program in 2003. As a cross-disciplinary research and educational institute, the SRCS seeks to overcome conventional disciplinary boundaries. Grounded on social thoughts, critical theory, and the interdisciplinary cultural studies, the training offered to our students aims at developing mastery over multidisciplinary scholarships and encouraging reformulation of research questions from interdisciplinary perspectives, in pursuit of critical scholarships combining historicized, comparative, and local lens. 

中長期發展方向 Future Research Projects

社文所的研究與課程聚焦亞際（台灣及東亞為主）間歷史、藝術、文化、文學、媒體及社會運動/活動等各種議題的研究，我們強調以經驗研究為基礎探討這些議題的連結、流動、交錯與雜柔，或比較對照的歷史與社會形構問題。學生可在人文領域多專業（multidisciplinary），包括人類學、社會學、歷史和文學、媒體與電影研究、性別研究的教學環境下學習，以期獲得更多跨學科（interdisciplinary）研究的視野與刺激。課程特色以批判理論與歷史緃深為主幹，提供學生嚴謹又札實社會文化理論的分析及相關議題的研究方法。

The primary focus of SRCS research and courses is the Inter-Asia studies based on histories, art, cultures, literature, media, and social movements in Taiwanese and Asian contexts. Grounded in empirical research, the SRCS brings to the fore the connections, fluidity, intersection, and hybridity among and between these topics, as well as the comparative lens of historical and social formation. To stimulate interdisciplinary problematics and master multiple approaches, students can seek exposure to multidisciplinary knowledge at our institute, including anthropology, sociology, history, literary studies, media and cinema studies, and gender studies.

社文所也呼應陽明交通大學人社院數位人文的中長程計劃，擬訂「數位文化的亞際研究」（Inter-Asia studies on digital culture），專注在亞洲背景下的特殊文化、社會和政治脈絡下，對數位文化的接受與運用的研究。包括數位技術在不同東亞國家擴散與接受的議題、東亞數位產業和生態系統的發展，以及數位文化如何塑造東亞社區的社會和文化身份等。也檢視數位文化如何改變東亞社會的不平等、種族性別、藝術創作、文化休閒生活，以及數位文化殖民等議題。

SRCS shall develop research and courses on Inter-Asia studies on digital culture to delve into the deployment and usage of digital culture in the particular cultural, social, and political contexts in Asia. This research cluster will cover topics including the dissemination and reception of digital technologies in different East-Asian countries, the digital industry, the development of ecology, the formation of East Asian societies and their socio-cultural identites. SRCS will also critically engage with issues like races, gender, art, culture and leisure, and digital cultural colonialism.

一、戰後台灣與東亞冷戰研究：地緣政治、軍事主義、移動、文化/文學、藝術與思想的交流
Post-war Taiwanese Studies and Cold War Studies in East Asia: Geopolitics, Militarism, Mobility, Exchanges among Culture, Literature, Art, and Thoughts

二、後冷戰的東亞文化與社會變遷：如跨國遷移（藍白領勞動遷移、難民、留學生等）和特區文化經濟
Post-Cold War Cultural and Social Transformation in East Asia: Transborder Migration and Mobility (blue-collar labour, refugees, and foreign students) and Special Economic Zones and Its Culture

三、亞際間當代大眾流行文化的研究：影視、音樂、運動
Contemporary Popular Culture in Asia:  Cinema, Television, Music, and Sports

四、數位文化的亞際研究
Inter-Asia Studies on Digital Culture
